every single time i looked up lyrics to my fave songs off mez and hypnotize, they were always written by only serj, and it makes sense. they dont really sound like system and they feel completely out of place on that album. lost in hollywood and also old school hollywood (whats with the double hollywood anyways) are kind of terrible. on mez, i genuinely think the last song shouldve been sad statue. it took just the small lyric change “your” instead of “mine” for them to be satiated.Īlso? i just think darons lyrics fucking suck, at least on the songs where he majority sings by himself. during the toxicity era, when needles was being made, daron and shavo didnt like the original lyrics “pull the tapeworm out of my ass” because it wasnt metal enough and according to rubin and serj the band almost broke up over it. I feel like daron pretty much came down with a bad case of lead singer syndrome, while not even being a lead singer. the worst part was the fact daron dogged on serj in an interview saying he was the only reason that there wasnt a new system album, and in return serj posted an entire book on facebook about what actually was going on, and how serj wanted equal pay and equal creative input within their songs. he wasnt rly feeling metal which is understandable, since ppl change. I actually agree, i kind of also have something against daron anyways… serj rly didnt want to do anything after steal.
